In a time when many roots bands plug in and add drum sets, Rootstone sticks to acoustic vibrations. Our acts present American roots music with its' regional accents intact. Music of the early American rural south has served as a cultural touchstone for generations. The primitive power of these old styles is affirmed anew for our audiences.
Recording real American folk music didn't really start to happen until the 1920s. That leaves 150 years of American folk music floating through the air. We summon these ancient strains and help them resonate them for a bit longer.
We use a simple stage setup and get right down to what is important : the songs. We play like it's still the 1920s, eschewing modern flair in the arrangements. Old classics, original songs, and an assortment of retro-fitted popular hits are all done up in true old school fashion.
It's 2009, and some say that the depression's here again. Rootstone is ready for it. At least we know we can still play our music, even if they turn the lights off.
So have a look and a listen to what we do. Please come out to one of our upcoming shows. Thank you for supporting Roots Music!
